The AK cartridge (7.62x39mm) is a .308 Caliber bullet. It isn't the same length as say the M14's cartridge (7.62x51mm) but they are both the same caliber. Caliber is the diameter of the inside of the guns barrel, usually in hundredths of an inch. The inside of the AK's barrel is .308 inches. The Host on the show should have referred to it by what it's commonly known as though

This guy is right. The 7.62x39mm AK and the 7.62x51mm NATO rounds are the same caliber just different lengths. They are both .308s. When they give a bullet length and width in mm (7.62x39mm, 5.56x45mm, etc.) the first number is the width, the second is the length.
