This is true about Colt. But the contract was coming to an end. Im not sure how the whole test went. What I heard was mearly Scuttle Butt (Rumors). Yes, they both use 30rd mags.

also because Colt has a Contract with the Army to supply their guns... and H&K is Germany Based... and i doubt the Auto Fire was the Main reason.. in the 2007 Dust Test the M4 jammed 882 times out of 60,000 while the Xm8 only jamed 127 times... and dont the M4 and XM8 both use 30 round Mags normally?
