Not really. Of course, you need to get good paint or it will just bounce. We are able to get good paint for the price of or near the price of the cheap stuff so there is really no need for cheap paint.Also, in some of the areas, you want a quality paint cause your shooting through narrow areas and bad paint can curve and not make it to the target.
