I could swear he says "get feeling better". That sounds like a foreigner learning English. What is he really saying? I'm assuming I am hearing it wrong. Either way, the lyrics are not exactly Steely Dan or Paul Simon caliber.

could be from his illnesses..he has bell's palsy ( a facial paralysis) and had a tracheotomy during s surgery...both don't help a vocalist at all

I wouldn't say the personna portrayed is delusional, because that would imply that he doesn't know what's going on. He seems fully aware of the situation; I don't know what he is. Depressed. Dependant. An overly ardent lover with low self-esteem?

I agree with you that society and culture has have been in a great decline since Gordon was doing his best work. I am a big fan of his but I have seen over 500 concerts in my life and unfortunately Gordon's was one of the worst live shows. Maybe it was an off night for him but he and the band seemed to be going through the motions and barely communicated with the audience.
